2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

True to its WWII roots, the iconic Jeep Wrangler hasn’t experienced a full redesign in quite some time, so the 2018 model is a welcome change to the classic. Without compromising the customization and versatility it’s known for, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited offers the familiar Wrangler advantages in a four-door design.

Drivers in Brockton, Randolph and Stoughton can find out what’s new for the 2018 Wrangler Unlimited with our in-depth model review.

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Specs

The 2018 Wrangler Unlimited is equipped with a 2.6-liter V-6, mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional five-speed automatic transmission. Command-Trac Shift is also standard for all models, and an upgraded performance suspension is available for the Willy’s Wheeler model. For a more heavy-duty option, there’s a suspension with gas shocks for the Big Bear model as well.

The Wrangler Unlimited is a comfortable, around-town ride, thanks to its new suspension, with smooth acceleration, precise steering and effective braking. These changes don’t sacrifice its off-road capability, however, since there are strong, solid front and rear axles that guarantee wheel articulation through rugged and uneven terrain.

2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Exterior

For 2018, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited still looks every bit the nostalgic, WWII workhorse, but there are some new additions and features that improve its styling. The familiar seven-slot grille is still there, though it has an aerodynamic slant that increases its fuel efficiency, and the windshield is stout and squared-off, though it also takes on a slight slant. Unfortunately, the folding windshield will not be available on new Wrangler Unlimited models.

Jeep also did away with the canvas soft top and removable hard top, instead choosing roll-over integration for the roof structure to enhance its safety. As always, the removable doors are still there, but the mirrors have been moved to the main body, so there’s no longer a need for the purchase of aftermarket mirrors to stay legal.

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Interior

One of the main appeals of the Jeep Wrangler has always been its rugged capability and off-road prowess, so the Wrangler Unlimited interior is full of durable, easily-cleaned materials and surfaces. The carpet is easy to remove and reveals metal floor pans and rubber grommets that serve as drainage holes to keep the floor clean and dry. Throughout the cabin, there are many small storage bins and cubbies, and the Wrangler Unlimited offers 70.6 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats folded, and 31.5 cubic feet with the seats upright.

To keep it modern, there are also many technology features and high-quality interior options. The Wrangler Unlimited is standard with the crisp, responsive 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system, which includes Bluetooth connectivity, navigation, satellite radio and third-party apps, easily accessed by the driver. Steering-wheel mounted controls, heated seating and a locking center console are also available with the Power Convenience package.
