2019 Jeep Cherokee Review
The newly-redesigned 2019 Jeep Cherokee received many updates to its styling, mechanics and features to become a better all-around option in the compact SUV class.
Drivers in Brockton, Randolph and Stoughton can learn more about the redesigned 2019 Jeep Cherokee with our in-depth review.
The redesign focused mostly on more conventional styling cues for the interior and exterior of the Jeep Cherokee. LED headlights, daytime running lights and new fog lights were added, as well as a sharper front end with distinctive sculpting details, a smoother shape and a slight lift to the rear end that gives it an upward slope. It still looks every bit the off-road master Jeep that it is, but these new design touches give it a look that’s more suited to its segment.
Inside, the Jeep Cherokee retains much of its interior looks with a few more upscale details. A color palette inspired by exotic, adventurous locales, nicer materials and better organization for the technology features were the only aspects added to the attractive, practical Jeep Cherokee interior.
The new Jeep Cherokee comes with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 180 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. The engine upgrades include a 3.2-liter V-6 with 271 horsepower and 239 pound-feet of torque, and a 2.0-liter turbo-four with 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. All of these engines mate to a nine-speed automatic transmission and use an automatic start-stop feature for better fuel economy.
Changes to the springs, roll bars, bushings and dampers significantly improved the Jeep Cherokee ride quality and road manners. It was already smooth, but these updates give it a cushioned ride for maximum comfort. Handling is as agile as ever, and the Jeep Cherokee can tow up to 4,500 pounds when properly equipped.
For capability, the Jeep Cherokee uses one of three conventional all-wheel-drive systems, as well as an off-road-specialized all-wheel-drive system. These systems offer many benefits, such as low-range gearing and selectable drive modes for rocky surfaces, muddy paths, snow and steep grades.
The Jeep Cherokee can be outfitted with a state-of-the-art infotainment system with a 7- or 8.4-inch touchscreen, as well as two 12-volt outlets, a USB port, an auxiliary jack, Bluetooth connectivity and a six-speaker sound system. Satellite radio, navigation and a nine-speaker Alpine sound system are also available. Many advanced safety features are available as well, including blind-spot monitoring and lane-departure warning.
The Uconnect infotainment system is an intuitive feature with plenty of capabilities. It uses a crisp, responsive touchscreen with a simple operating system for enhanced usability, as well as app compatibility for a better range of music streaming. Combined with satellite radio and the Alpine sound system, you can enjoy concert-quality sound in the Jeep Cherokee cabin on your daily commute.
