Guide to the 5th Annual Makayla Fund Golf Fundraiser
The Makayla Fund is an organization that strives to educate teens and parents on the issue of teen suicide. The Fund aims to reduce stigma and serve as a resource for those affected by suicide throughout Massachusetts.
A high school sports scholarship is also offered as a way to improve the lives of local teens, providing the necessary funds to participate in sports to students who otherwise would be unable to afford to do so.
This year marks the fifth iteration of the Fund’s golf tournament fundraiser to support their programming and scholarships. Participants from Brockton, Randolph, Stoughton, and beyond are invited to participate in the tournament at the Ridder Country Club. There’s an entry fee of $125 per player, which includes lunch, a t-shirt, goody bag, greens fees, cart, and a post-golf dinner.
Money from the event and other donations to the Fund have so far provided over $46,000 to student-athletes in need of financial assistance. In addition, the Fund has been successful in partnering many local schools with the Signs of Suicide Program (SOS), which provides mental health screenings to students for free with the monetary assistance of the Makayla Fund.
Schedule of Events
Registration will begin at 11:00 AM and will be accompanied by lunch. At 12:30 PM, the tournament will begin with a shotgun start, and will take a scramble format. After the tournament, participants will head to the Whitman Knights of Columbus Hall to receive the day’s awards. A dinner buffet provided by local chefs will be available, followed by silent auctions and raffles. Guests may purchase a ticket to the dinner only for $25 prior to September 9th, or $30 at the door.
This event is limited to the first 144 golfers who sign up, so don’t wait too long to get your ticket! This is sure to be a day of fun that’ll assist many area teens.
