Exterior Redesign and Updates
The previous Cherokee model had a truck-like look that showcased its trail-ready nature, but the new redesign softened the edges and refined the shape to make it look more like the practical crossover it actually is. The daytime running lights merge into the swept headlights for a cohesive look, and the fog lights settle into the lower corners of the front end. The signature seven-slot grille is still bold and distinctive, but it’s rimmed in chrome for a more refined, upscale appearance.
The profile has a slight upward slant, which gives the Cherokee a similar shape to its rivals. This isn’t just for show, of course, because many of these sculpted edges and reshaped bumpers improve the approach and departure angles for better off-road performance. There are several nods to the Jeep’s rugged history as well, such as colors named after locations like Mount Kilimanjaro and Morocco, and small etchings of traditional Jeep vehicles traversing unknown landscapes in the windshield glass.
Interior Styling Details
The interior of the Cherokee was always a little more upscale than many of its competitors, but the 2019 redesign brought better materials and high-end updates to set it apart further. The door panels, armrests and dashboard are all covered in soft-touch materials with low-gloss surfaces for a luxurious look, and contrasting colors for the lower panels create a beautiful balance of light and dark in the space.
Active noise-canceling technology was also used to improve the sound penetration in the cabin. Between the grunt of the engine and the sounds of wind and passing vehicles, the cabin could get quite noisy, but this new feature guarantees a whisper-quiet interior, regardless of what’s happening outside.
The redesigned Cherokee has many of the previous model’s features, as well as some worthwhile additions. Automatic LED headlights, roof rails, eight cargo tiedowns, power accessories, cloth upholstery, fog lights and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a USB port, Bluetooth and a six-speaker audio system are all standard for the Cherokee.
Some additional options for the Cherokee include a hands-free power liftgate, perforated nappa leather upholstery with heating and ventilated, navigation, a rear tonneau cover, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, a windshield wiper de-icer, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system and five years of real-time traffic updates. Many advanced safety features are also available for the Cherokee, such as adaptive cruise control and forward-collision warning.
