The Ram 1500 is quite the powerful pickup, thanks in part to its robust engine and commendable off roading capabilities. If you'd like your truck to stay that way, it's best to keep up with the vehicle's maintenance schedule.

At Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram (CJDR) 24, our mechanics are well equipped to service the maintenance needs of drivers from Brockton, Randolph, and Stoughton. Become better acquainted with your Ram 1500 maintenance schedule through the sections below. Then, when your due for service, schedule an appointment with our service center!

What Is a Maintenance Schedule?

A vehicle's maintenance schedule acts as an outline for the numerous services your vehicle will require throughout its lifetime. Each section of the schedule is grouped by mileage, allowing drivers to easily determine when certain components of their vehicle are due for service.

We've highlighted a few common service intervals and their matching maintenance suggestions below. If you'd ever like to read the complete Ram 1500 maintenance schedule, refer to your owner's manual.

We should also note that these suggestions are the base recommendation for your truck. If you ever experience trouble outside of these intervals, don't hesitate to contact our dealership.

20,000 Miles

The first interval listed inside the Ram 1500 maintenance schedule occurs once the vehicle has reached 20,000 miles. The key services for the 20,000-mile mark include…

  • Inspect the brake lining and replace as necessary
  • Replace the air cabin filter
  • Inspect the front suspension and tie rod ends, replacing as needed.

Finally, you may want to have the Evaporative System Fresh Air Filter inspected and replaced, although the frequency of this procedure may differ depending on driving conditions.

40,000 Miles

Reaching the 40,000-mile mark will also require an inspection of your front suspension and tire rod ends. Here, too, you should inspect and, if necessary, replace the brake lining.

The 40,000 mark is also where you should inspect the CV/Universal joints.

60,000 miles

When your Ram 1500 reaches 60,000 miles, it will be time to have the front and rear axel surfaces inspected. If gear oil leakage is suspected, check the fluid levels during this time, too.

Furthermore, if you use your 1500 for frequent off-roading or trailer towing, bring your truck to our service department to have the axel fluid changed.

100,000 Miles

Congratulations on hitting 100,000 miles in your Ram 1500! Here's what you should service at the 100,000-mile stage:

  • Replace spark plugs
  • Flush and replace the engine coolant
  • Inspect the PCV valve, replacing if necessary

120,000 Miles

Reaching 120,000 miles is a big achievement! It is also an interval that comes with services included in earlier intervals, including the inspection of CV/Universal joints. Additional services required are as follows:

  • Inspection of the tie rod and front suspension, replacing if needed
  • Inspecting the brake lining, replacing it if necessary
